Shop The Perimeter

Health Tip -

Shop The Perimeter

Going to the grocery store while on a diet can test the willpower of everyone. Take a minute, close your eyes and picture your local grocery store.  How many chip displays or candy bins come to mind? While on the Amino Diet, you need to stick to the approved foods list of proteins, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. Generally you will find most everything you need by sticking to the perimeter of the store. That is where you will find the fresh, whole foods. The isles in the middle contain many boxed meals, processed foods, and foods that will slow your loss while on the program.

When you stay on the perimeter of the store, you'll find that you end up eating a healthier and more nutritious diet. You are now eating REAL food filled with vitamins and nutrients straight from nature, not the other stuff created to satisfy our society's cravings for fat, sugar and salt.  You become the creator of the food, monitoring what is added, not leaving it up to the manufacturer to decide.

Now that you have a list of all the vegetables and fruits you can eat, you will want to purchase a few things that can add flavor to your meals. Here is your shopping list for flavoring:

  • Sea Salt for flavor
  • Stevia to add sweetness to some foods
  • Green teas and herbal teas
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Cinnamon
  • Oregano and different spice blends
  • Melba toast, whole grain wheat thins, or a healthy cracker

While on The Amino Diet, avoid going down ANY isle that may contain food you are missing/craving and try your best not to grocery shop on an empty stomach.  Stick to the approved foods list from your guide book and all of these tips can lead to a healthier lifestyle, which is what we are all seeking. Also, remember that you’re never alone while on this diet. You always have support including your new teammates on Facebook, or the Health Coaches. We want to see everyone succeed while on the Amino Diet. Everyone can do this, and get back to a healthy life style.
